Meetings & Events


The Eastern Sierra Chapter invites members, their colleagues, and other environmental professionals to its various functions. These include luncheon meetings with a featured speaker discussing a timely topic, plant tours, social events, and specialty workshops and conferences.

We welcome suggestions of events that our members would like the Chapter to present. Also, we are always receptive to offers to present a timely topic to our members. Please contact our Chairperson with your suggestions and offers.

  • Tuesday, June 28, 2011: Eastern Sierra Chapter Event at ElectraTherm, Inc. 4750 Turbo Circle, Reno. A presentation of “Converting Heat to Power: Electra Therm’s Innovative Technology" and tour of the facility. ElectraTherm, Inc. manufactures the “Green Machine” which recovers heat from low-temperature sources and converts it to electricity.   • Thursday, April 28, 2011: Luncheon at Peppermill Resort Spa Casino. 2707 S. Virginia St. Reno. Dean Parker (Director of Facilities) and Jimmy Oakes (Director of Facilities) provided an overview of the Peppermill's operation followed by a tour of the Peppermill.   • June 17, 2010 - GreenUP! Mixer - After Reno Green Summit                The next Chapter event will be Thursday, June 17th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Joe Crowley Student Union on the UNR campus.  The Chapter will be co-hosting a mixer immediately following the City of Reno's annual Green Summit.  Nearly 300 people attended last year's Summit and we expect other non-profits, businesses, and eco-agencies to be at the mixer in hopes of creating a Sustainable Community.  There will be snacks and a no-host bar to facilitate a great green networking event.  No need to RSVP, just arrive with an appetite for discussing sustainability and networking with the City's finest.
